Are you prepared for your Golf Lesson?

Are you prepared for your Golf Lesson?
You’ve make the decision to get golf instruction and your next lesson is coming up. When you are investing in lessons, you want to get the most out of them so you can improve your skills and level up your game. That is why it is important to be prepared. Here are a few things to do before you attend your next golf lesson.

When Booking your Lesson
Find out as much information about your lesson when booking, especially if it is your first time. You will need to know if the equipment is supplied, or if you need to bring it with you. This will ensure that you arrive prepared.

Reflect and Write Down Questions
Thinking about your patterns when playing and reflecting on your abilities will bring up questions to ask your instructor. If there is anything is particular you want to know or improve, write it down before your lesson and take it with you. So often we forget to ask when in the midst of a lesson, only to get home and still have questions! This way you are ready to learn a few tips, and have a whole new set of questions for your next lesson, helping you to progress more quickly.

Getting to Know You
Your instructor is likely to ask you a lot about your golf experience. This helps them work out what you want from your lessons, what is holding you back from progressing, and what you need to do about it. This question and answer session not only allows you to state your goals but also means getting to know one another and building rapport.

State your Goals
Tell your instructor what you want to work on. This means you will get the results you are looking for in the areas you want to improve and get the most for your money.

Be Honest
When in the presence of a professional, it can be tempting to focus on your strengths rather than your weaknesses. During your lesson, try to do things exactly as you would naturally, rather than how you think they should be done. This will allow your instructor to know how you move when you swing and be better able to help you improve.
Golf is as much of a mental game as it is physical. If some shots make you nervous, that is normal. By telling your instructor about it, they will be able to offer tips and advice about mind over matter.

Ask for Clarification
During your lesson, if there is anything that you don’t quite understand, ask the instructor to explain. It is easy to be confused when ambiguous words describe what your limbs should be doing. Ask for clarification when you need to.

Getting better at golf takes lots of practice, so don’t expect to perfect something over a few lessons. Take what you have learned from each lesson and practise it every time you play. Over time, those improvements will begin to show.

Keeping safe whilst playing the game you love most! The Covid-19 crisis has hit us all hard. Now we are beginning to see some sports open up again, but things are still far from normal. One of the advantages of golf is that it takes place outside, usually in wide open spaces on a golf course.
